MSTRC will be moving to a different server this Sunday night 12/28/2008. At 9pm the site will be closed to move to the new server. It is suggested that you try not to visit the site until the next day, or you will keep refreshing the old DNS settings.

Please wait until 9am 12/29 to try and access the site.

Invision Power Services will not longer be providing the web hosting for MSTRC. The new host will be our very own Verwayne of Races on The Web. We would like to thank him for offerring to host the club.

Again, the site will go offline at 9pm on 12/28/2008 to transfer the forum to the new server.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Forum has been moved to new server, thread closed.

There will be very, very little downtime.

The move on the hardware side is done already.. just need to flip the switch and let the dns servers update.

6 to 12 hours for the majority of users.

Well not quite, yes the hardware is in place, but the site needs to be backed up and re-loaded to the new server.

Here are the steps that will take place...

1. The forum will shut down
2. I will back the whole site up (about 700 meg)
3. Upload backup to the new server
4. Restore backup on new sever
5. Test new server with my local DNS settings changed to make sure site is working properly (already did a test run of this and it worked perfect)
6. After everything is ok on new server, turn the forum on, ON the new server only. (The reason for this is we don't want people posting on the old server no more)
7. Change the DNS setting with the domain name mstrc.net to point to the new server.

Pretty easy process and no data loss. I am doing this at night so the majority of us will not really notice a thing.

Before I do this, I will change the logo of the site a tad bit. I will add something to let you know you are on the new server and it is ok to continue posting.

These steps are to ensure NO data loss and very, very, minimum downtime. The site will look the same as it does now.
