Hey guys. So when people talk motors sounds like there talking a different language. This winter i tore down my 355 sbc learned a little bit about them. Our rules are stock heads, stock crank, flat tappet cam, flat top pistons, 6in rods allowed, exhaust manifolds and 4412 2 barrel. So my questions any suggestions on cam type of rods (eagle ect.) 1.5 or 1.6 roller rockers? Long or short water pump? size of damper? type of roller rockers? valve springs ect? My motor is 3.48 stroke crank, 882 heads, 3000lb car 1/4mile semi banked track. any help would be appreciated. thanks guys

4412 restricted 355 motors like long rods, highest compression you can make and custom ground cam to fit. Rocker ratio depends on cam grind. We've run up to 1.65's in this type motor on intake side. You need to feed these motors air but limit cam duration or they can be dogs. 441 head will outflow 882 if you can find.

another question for 9.0 compression.. With headers and 4412..Is it better to use the dart head with 72 cc and a flat top piston or use a head with 64 cc with a dish piston??

I have a set of 041 heads for sale. Those are the best factory head you can get without going to a vortec.

Just saw this...

I'd use smallest chamber and lightest possible piston. Cam is key in these motors. Mike Jones at Jones Cams in NC is pricey but make awesome restricted motor cams.
