What a show!! What a show!!
Know that was worth every penny I paid to watch that kind of racing.
Man the Late models put on a whale of a show.
The trucks also did a fine job.

BTW Pretty good way to start you guys season, with the feature win.

Yep, LM feature NO cautions.

And yes, the trucks were great, we were riding on a rail the whole feature, Tim said he even could have pushed the truck alittle more. Not bad for sitting all winter. It's a wonder what 3 new tires can do.

Wow what a show over 130 cars, late models put on a very good show
Jimmy Gallagher from the asphalt side was there with his new GRT dirt late model and finished 5 th in his race and will be a force when he gets all of his asphalt thinking out of his head and gets switched over to the dirt . nonstop racing , and one of the greatest national anthem, pledge of allegiance songs ever. AND ALL OF THIS FOR $10 bucks and full stands.

Mr. Excitement Brad Authier from Chatham Ontario Canada was back. Heard he will run full time. Thank You to everyone who came out and to everyone who stayed for the whole show. It did start a little late but it was only opening night and they gave every class hot laps.

Yes, we did start 35 minutes late. However, considering we gave 135 cars hotlaps and then qualified 40 late models (42 were there but two broke in hot laps), the track was in great shape for the majority of the night.

It was great to see the stands jammed full of people. I hope the enthusiasm stays all season long!

Tho Hobby Stock feature was had the best finish of the night (unfortunately the crowd had dwindled by this time). The man in third spot on lap 14 managed two win by INCHES at the line as first and second beat on each other the final lap. What a way for Dan Wilmore to win his first ever feature!!

Those of you that enjoyed the show Saturday night, please give Terry Fitwater a call this Wednesday night at 6pm on 730AM (Lansing) as Ron Flinn is scheduled to be a guest.....at least that is what I was told!

I hope to see many of you this Saturday!!

Yeah, we only did two. With Trevor, I don't have to talk too much!! Especially when he does features and I am in the infield. We did one at the beginning of the night and at Jr Fan Club.

Mr. Gokee,

It sure was a pleasure to make fun of your dad...LOL....good to have some of the asphalt faithful on board.

Can someone please tell me where jim Gallagher had run? I assumed he was a former asphalt driver when the pit gate asked what class he was in and he responded "Supers". I assume he may have spent some time at Owosso and Spartan?

I had a good time working! I have learned alot from Ed..???? I will let you make your own jokes on that one!!!

Roger,

Jimmy Gallagher was a Owosso and Spartan regular from what I remember, last season he finished 2nd in the Owosso Speedway SLM standings.

Roger,

You've learned a lot from........me????

You didn't sing again, did you?????

Seriously, it is VERY refreshing to read a thread with such positive things to say about a tracks opening night. But anyone that's been to Crystal before knows about the way you guys do it. Dirty, but with lots of class!!!!!

Keep up the good work Rog, and Ron too!!!

PM me if you need some "dirt" on Jimmy Gallegher!!!!

He first started his racing career at Owosso when it was dirt, also raced at Crystal, and I-96. He ran a couple years in the MSPA shows in the late 80's. He then changed over to TAR and was very competitive at Owosso,Auto City, and Spartan. As Kyle said he was a tar regular at Spartan and Owosso.
Jimmy went in on a venture on a dirt car. They are planning on running alot of the dirt tracks such as Crystal, I-96,Merritt and some other ones around the area. He still has his Tar car to run some shows with.

He calls Ovid, Michigan home but lives in Diamondale.

BTW Roger "SHUT UP" I was going to stop and introduce myself, never got a chance. I will next time I see ya at the track!!!

Absolutely...please do introduce yourself when you visit. Opening day is pretty hectic, so I was most likely pretty busy.

Thanks for the skinny on Jim Gallagher. Everyone was so busy at the start of the night, I did not get time to walk around the pits and investigate!

Ed: I wanted to sing, but alas, my pipes were too cold.

Matt: We thought you were going to be there, so we asked the flies to take a break for the evening...which they did.

I know why it was so much fun!! Now that I am married, it's the only night I get to go out of the house and do something wothout the wife on my back...LOL

I made my second trip ever out to Crystal to catch their opener and I was very impressed. I'll definitly be going back a few times this year. The program seemed like it ran really smooth. Drivers and track officials were in mid season form.

$10 entry to see over 40 super late models? Awesome biggrin.gif

Oh, a side note since the National Anthem was mentioned...I'm sure it was put together with utmost respect in mind, but I didn't enjoy it. The National Anthem deserves to be played or sung straight through, not with someone randomly talking throughout (even if it was the pledge of allegiance)

I would think you should get more late models, cars that weren't quite done, and some merritt cars ready for shake down. I would think with gas prices the way they are crystal may get some cars not wanting to travel so far north too as regulars...I enjoy crystal it's always a good steady show. ...just no more... ANTS!...that was bad....
