sure is!

it is on Fox Sports 1, 9:00PM (I think begins at 9:16)

All sessions (prac 1, prac 2, time trials, and heats) are on FS1 too. I forget those off hand but believe it is 10, 11:30, 5, 7 respectively

34 trucks entered for 30 spots

Last year must have set my hopes too high. Twitter was buzzing like it was the race of the year no I didn't read all 50 thousand tweets, mighta been a LOT of people thought like me... I didn't think it was all that good. Larson was driving like an idiot (he said as much) and it got won by a team that is obviously cheating a little bit better than everybody else right now. Oh sorry did more homework... Nobody cheats, because everybody does. Okay race but it probably woulda been better at IRP. (of course I wouldn't have watched then but for real NASCAR fans that did)

The heat races were better tonight than the feature. Well I take that back, every time they panned to outside of the top 5 or 10 the racing was amazing.

Last year the heats were useless but the feature wasn't bad.

And Larson sure was coming before that last yellow with 20 to go. After that he did his best video game impersonation to see how many times he could hit that wall...and when he got close with 3 to go I thought he was going to throw an out of control slide job in there...

Bummer for Erik - night started off a lot better than it ended...

Nascar would never go for it. It would draw too many viewers away from cup or atleast make people realize how boring much of pavement racing is compared to a weekly dirt show.

AGREED!!!

Erik may not have finished well but he sure did wheel that thing around Eldora.

FQ and winning his heat race was awesome. The flat tires and spins were unfortunate, but I bet he learned a ton last night!!

NASCAR needs to stick to NASCAR racing. And since the truck race is popular, leave it. I know that before I was born NASCAR ran dirt but those days are over, no Eldora Nationwide race, no Eldora Cup race (where would anybody sit anyways?). NOW if they decided to return cup to Rockingham, North Wilkesboro and Nashville Fairgrounds speedway and take a race from Pocono, Michigan (sorry guys but races there are usually pretty boring) and Fontana, I'd be all for it. But that yonder is a pipe dream. While we are at it drop Indy and add ORP and Chicagoland in favor of the Milwaukee mile.

There's plenty of dirt races to go to. I am not sure why my opinion has swung so violently the other way on this. Dirt is for dirt racing and asphalt is for asphalt racing and NASCAR is asphalt racing. (for the most part anyway) Although I have been having a sneaking suspicion that they might buy out World Racing Group for some time now, that is if Bruton Smith (or whatever alias of a holding company that I think he has for it) would sell. And Make DIRTCAR part of the Whelen Weekly Series, then they could turn the WoO late models into the NASCAR dirt touring stock car division. Maybe call it Grand American or something like that. And leave the WoO sprints branded as suck, just presented by STP and NASCAR. Odds of this happening? I don't know but I am not an oddsmaker. I would hope that it DOESN'T.

At least they sanction some dirt tracks now...that's one positive...

[Utica-Rome in NY and Grandview in PA are two examples]

I was excited to get home from work last night and watch the qualifiers and the main event. It was great to see Erik set fast time and win his heat and run strong in the feature before the two flat tires.

Even though Kyle Larson wrecked, he sure made that race interesting! There was great battles throughout the field and I may just have to put this race on my list of must attend races!

Flounder,

If you have never been to Eldora before prepare to be astounded when you get there. It is a blend of the old that Earl Baltes built and a blend of the new that Tony has orchestrated and each part blends so well with the other that is seamless. Eldora is like no other short track anywhere that I have ever been to. While the lodging is a fair distance away but not too bad the track and its reasonably priced and very good concessions makes up for it. I went for the Kings Royal this year and it was my first time there. I already have my reservations for next year and think I am going to make some for the truck race next year as well. Don't try to drive home after the races, stay somewhere close or better yet make it a vacation as they have a fantastic lake in Celina and St. Marys.

WARNING my brother has informed me that him going to Eldora ruined all of short track racing for him. It didn't do that to me..... Be careful, because IF you thought the race last night was good.... I have seen people here raving about races there that the 4m guys were crying and whining about. Eldora fans are spoiled to the MAXIMUM. The time I went to Eldora, greatest experience EVER in 30+ years of this.... CRYING and WHINING. The internet has ruined racing.

EDIT I thought that race sucked.

WHY did I think it sucked? 1. they were going slow, this is a pro race, NOT a bomber race. 2. Virtually no competition for the win. 3 There was no actual passing just a bunch of guys trying not to crash, so it LOOKED like 4 wide "racing". That sh1t WASN'T racing and they need to stop it NOW. Asphalt trucks belong on asphalt.... Once was enough. And hey BTW an asphalt guy beat all the dirties on their own dirt. Take your fancy toys back to Charlotte and LEAVE WHAT'S left of dirt racing to the poor man. PLEASE.

Remember dirt cars are made of snot welded well pipe and asphalt cars are made of sugar and spice and everything nice. Don't race your pretty tar cars on dirt ever again.

I didn't get to watch the whole race. But from what I did watch it was pretty sllllllooooooowwwww moving. If they are going to keep this race on the schedule every year. They need to let the teams build purpose built dirt cars. Not keep racing asphalt cars on dirt. I think some street stock and bomber racers r prb better. But I wasn't there to see how the racing was threw the pack. Cause Fs1 does do a very good job on covering the racing in the pack just the top 5. This is just my opinion thou.

Purpose Built Dirt Cars??? what would be the point of that????? ARCA runs 2 Dirt races a year with " Asphalt" cars and the races are great, There are already Dirt Cars out there, The best part of it is racing the same cars/Trucks on Dirt that they race on Asphalt, I swear Some guys on here Bitch about Nascar just to hear themselves Bitch

Snot welding makes for a better show all though the trucks at Eldora might not compare to regular dirt racing it was a lott more interesting than The Brickyard
