By Duane Turner, Mason, MI: With rain showers in the area, Corrigan Oil Speedway was forced to shorten the practice sessions, and start a little late as rain fell after practice began. Slugfest #3 would go on as scheduled, and the racing action would quickly dry and dampened spirits. Mike Brooks led flag to flag in the modified division, while Greg Rudzik continued to dominate the Michigan legends. Todd Metz Jr won his third outlaw pony stock feature in just three tries while DJ Marciniak pulled double duty winning the stock class. In the spartan stocks, Steve Dorer took the A class and Tim Lahar won again in the B feature. With nine events in the street stock class, Jesse Collinge made the ninth different winner in 2018. Wayne Parkhurst II dominated the always popular 30 lap figure 8 race.

The Boss Snow Equipment Pony Stocks saw Trina Newman lead the opening lap, but Jacob Newman took over on lap two. DJ Marciniak moved in to second on lap three with Jimmy Burchett and Randy Kretzinger Jr in tow. On lap five, Marciniak takes the lead while Kretzinger Jr takes over third. On lap ten, Marciniak begins to pull away as Kretzinger Jr struggles while battling Newman for second. Kretzinger Jr finally takes second on lap 12 and sets his sight on Marciniak who now has a 1/4 lap lead. With two laps to go, Kretzinger has closed it, but it is not enough as Marciniak takes the win. Kretzinger holds on for second with Jacob Newman in third.

The Boss Snow Equipment Outlaw Pony Stocks had Bob Brown lead the field to the green flag. DJ Marciniak led the opening lap, as Ryan Hollister moves in to second. Todd Metz Jr and William Larner wasted no time finding the front as Chad Gray takes the lead with Metz Jr now in tow. On lap six, Metz takes the lead but Gray bumps Metz to retake the lead on lap seven. On a lap eight restart, Metz grabs the lead again from the outside, as Gray and Larner follow. With the laps winding down, Metz increased his lead leaving Gray and Larner to fight for second. At the checkers, Metz takes the win followed by Gray and Larner.

Derek Kearns led the opening lap of the Performance Automotive Northwest Spartan Stock A feature. On lap five, Jeff Vochaska takes the lead as caution waves on lap six. On the restart, Vochaska maintains the lead but Ward Jr takes over second with caution waving again on lap seven. On the restart, Steve Dorer with a strong move on the inside setting himself up to take the lead on lap eight with Vochaska and Ward Jr in tow. On lap 16, Scott Pemberton slips in to third then takes over second one lap later. With ten laps to go, Pemberton catches Dorer for the race lead, but Dorer hangs on for the win. Pemberton is second and Ward Jr hangs on for third.

Tom Williams took the early lead in the spartan stock "B" feature, but Lex Jarecki took over on lap four. Tim Lahar followed in to second, with Jordan Harvey keeping pace taking fourth. On lap 12, the top four cars race side by side for the lead. Lap 15, Lahar uses the high-side to take the lead, as Troy Andrews takes over third. In the street stock feature, Ted Williams took the early lead but Jesse Collinge takes over on lap seven and quickly pulls away. Mike Havens takes second on lap ten, as Ron Hart takes third just two laps later. At the finish, Collinge takes the win followed by Havens and Hart.

The Sawyers Superstore Michigan legends had Aaron Hurst take the early lead with Ray Janisse and Greg Rudzik close behind. Caution on lap three shuffles up the leaders on the restart. On lap five, Tyler Mackenzie takes the lead as Rudzik moves in to second after restarting at the tail. Rudzik then takes the lead on lap eight, and quickly pulls away leaving Mackenzie and Janisse to battle for second. With three to go, Cody Hall takes over third, but at the finish, Rudzik takes the win, Tyler Mackenzie holds on for second, as Janisse retakes third on the final lap.

Mike Brooks paced the Sawyers Chevrolet Modifieds to the start of their 35-lap feature event and leads the opening lap. Bill Heeney Jr takes second on lap two, followed by Dominique VanWierigen. On a lap five restart, VanWierigen takes over second while Jason Parish follows in to third. With ten laps complete, Parish takes over second and Chris Hettinger follows in to third. On a lap 14 restart, Hettinger takes over second and quickly puts pressure on Brooks for the race lead. Al Berry takes over fourth one lap later as the top four race nose to tail and pull away from the field. With ten to go, Hettinger looks to the high side as the top three distance themselves from the field. With five to go, the leaders enter heavy lapped traffic, but Brooks is able to hold on and take the win. Hettinger and Parish are the top three.
