Topics I've Started

  1. Lansing/Okemos Members

Just curious if anyone in the Okemos area knows or remembers Stan Stolz, the legendary basketball player and later high school coach? I know he and then his son Dan coached Okemos basketball. I last spoke with him about the time his wife died back in 2014. I'd like to contact him, but the info I had on him has apparently gone bad.
  2. Opening Day Quivers

    Posted 9 Mar 2018

With opening day just a couple weeks away for a few tracks and only a week or two later for most of the others... who is ready? Which tracks this season?

A 'Family Pass' of two adults and two kids (5-11) is $30. Call the office at 989.235.5200 or visit the website for more information.
  4. Ron Flinn At Daytona

    Posted 12 Feb 2018

For those who knew that Crystal Motor Speedway owner and promoter was one of six in the running for "National Promoter of the Year," Ron didn't win the national title.

Ron and I spoke the other night... I think he called just to rub it in that it was 82 there and it was 8 here... but he told me that just to be in that elite group of promoters was an honor in and of itself. Some men are humble enough to know that no matter win, lose or draw, what they did was good enough.

As I told him, he will always be my "Promoter of the Year."

  5. In The Age of FB, Is A Website Worth Having?

    Posted 13 Jan 2018

No drama, just a question. Some things have unexpectedly fallen my way (not money, that's for darn sure!) and an opportunity that I would have killed to get ten years ago has opened. My question stems from the lack of participation here vs the constant stream of posts on racing I see on FB by members that I know are members here. This new situation would be quite 'labor intensive' and judging by the response or lack thereof I see here, I'm about 90% sure it wouldn't be worth doing under the current mind set.

I'm seriously looking for thoughts, and obviously it would be on and about racing. Doing anything on FB and YouTube makes a lot of money for Zuckerburg and Google but nothing to help defray the expenses of the person doing the work. The nice people over on YT wanted to fine me $500 because I caught the last four seconds of the National Anthem being sung by some famous group. Thanks for your time.
