ONE OF THE BEST RACE TRACKS IN MICHIGAN NOW BECOMES "AUTO CITY OUTDOOR EVENT CENTER".FOR ME ITS VERY SAD TO SEE THIS TRANS-FORMATION. ALWAYS LOVED AUTO CITY,I'VE BEEN A FAN SINCE THE LATE 50'S. ITS BEEN SUCH A GREAT RACING VENUE AND I HATE TO SEE THE DIRECTION THAT ITS HEADED. I GUESS ITS FINALLY TIME TO MOVE ON. SAD :?/>

SMH..... shame, place turned into a joke in the matter of a couple seasons.... I'd rather see it closed then be a dope arena....

When Jack ran it we used to go every weekend. Seen some fantastic racing in the Outlaws and rest of the classes. The full size pickups was a good one on the quarter mile and street stocks put on a heck of a show too. Sad to see the place go down.

Use to run there almost every Saturday night when it was Dirt.. One of the best tracks around at the time..Use to pull 2 hours each way to run there.. Some of the first few Muddslinger's were some of the best races in the Midwest at the time.. Not a big deal to see the likes of Comb's Purvis,Swartz and many more battle the Howe's Lamp's Bowerman's and Nagy's..Sad to hear that it is done..But from what I've heard from others it was written on the walls.

Seems like a future-forward name for a broader use of the facility. Does anyone have first hand information as to whether or not there will still be racing there?

I do it because I can. I can because I want to. I want to because you said I couldn't.

Well I thought I saw a Top Speed race there on the 2016 Schedule,, but then that really doesn't mean all that much either..

They have a CRA race scheduled as well. I talked to Joe a few weeks ago. He said that nothing was locked down for weekly racing, but they hope to have a schedule released in January.

I don't think I would jump to any conclusions yet. Wouldn't everyone here consider auto racing as an "outdoor event"? Therefore, racing at the Auto City Outdoor Event Center would seem appropriate. There could be many other types of events held there as well.

A good part of racing is all the friends you create.
A sad part of racing is all the enemies you create.

I think I jumped the gun a bit. I know I'm not alone when I say I hope Joe, or whomever, gets the place back on track. Honestly it doesn't matter to me who is running it as long as its open. If it closed part of my heart would go with it. I like racing other tracks, but Auto City is home. It's like sleeping in a hotel bed, its nice, but your bed at home is the best.

Agreed, seeing post here and Facebook yet no other announcement other than name change. But on the same note, they could have avoided the questions if they provided an explanation with the announcement.

Absolutely. There is a big difference between promoters and people who own race tracks. Joe is a track owner.

On a business standpoint it may be for opening up options for further events legally or insurance wise.If Joe closes raceing for a couple of weeks to bring money in wouldn't that possibly keep the gates open for future racing?

The name changed midsummer Joe made a big decision to move forward on what was best for the complex it's just more then racing that makes the world go around you have to bring an other venues to make it happen the name speedway just indicated speedway. I think it a good move.
