Hope this is of interest. I saw this on Facebook yesterday, but as usual when I go back to something there I have trouble finding it. This one seems like it's going to be something new and different, and I hope they can bring it off. I really doubt if I would be willing to sit in the stands for the whole event, though.

History will be made on Sepember 22nd and 23rd of 2018 at Baer Field Motorsports Park. This will be the inaugural "Grocery Getter Classic" with a 24HOUR endurance race , Max 500 cars .
The Rule's are basic Street cars and vans only no trucks , not over 22ft in lenght. All side and rear glass removed, head and tail lights remove, stock gas tank for that made of car, MUST have working AM-FM radio, Stock bumers no reinforcements . 4 driver minimum. same size tires at all time.
Entry fee for this $500.00 per car (with 4 pit passes included)
Entry form will be on the web site on December 16 2017
deadline is Sept 20, 2018.
Pay out is
500 cars $50000.00 to win , top 250 cars pay out
400 cars $40000.00 to win , top 200 cars pay out
300 cars $30000.00 to win , top 150 cars pay out
200 cars $20000.00 to win, top 100 cars pay out
Car with the most laps after 24 hours win.

Stock gas tank? I understand the idea of not not wanting someone to try and pack a car full of fuel with over sized tanks to limit stops, but no fuel cell? Am I being overly cynical on thinking stock gas tanks are a hazard in this type of race?

Otherwise it looks like it could be a blast and I hope they make a good go of it. As for the spectating sounds like it could be a fun camping trip where you had a home base to go back to and go back and forth to watch at your leisure.
You have to learn the rules of the game. And then you have to play better than anyone else.

Thinking about it a little -- Baer Field is a half mile. 500 cars on a half mile? Can you say California style traffic jam?

Used to watch enduro's at Flemington when I was a kid. ~120-130 cars on a 5/8. 500 would be...tight.

And I know...math is annoying but let's do some.

Grand Prix/Monte Carlo/Impala roughly 200" long. A half mile is 31,680 inches long. That would be 158 cars nose to tail.

Those same cars are about 72" wide. I am presuming you can fit them four abreast, because you would need 4 rows to start 500.

If you started 4 rows of 125, you would have 556 feet (basically a tenth of a mile) until the first car reached the 125th car (presuming you intentionally left a gap instead of spreading out around the whole track). It would take some serious time to create gaps.

(Also, if they did get 500 cars it would be 250K in entry fees alone)

That 250K will probably end up as purse $$$$$ for the rest of the year..and I would think 500 cars is a large stretch.

More math!

If you paid the following purse the payout would be 132K on the entry fees of 250K.

1 50000
2 3000
3 2000
4 1500
5-10 1000
11-100 500
101-200 200
201-250 100

The below payout would be 182,500 of 250K
1 50000
2 3000
3 2000
4 1500
5-10 1000
11-250 500

I would guess that your math is off just a bit... I would venture a guess that with the 50K to win, the second place will be much less than 3000.. but then again, could be wrong, but past promotion histories would say more like 50K to win and 1000 for second.. otherwise you could do like 25K to win and then pay better back,, if there is much of a back left at the end of 24hrs.

Anyone remember the one enduro race at Dixie long ago. I was car #167 I believe and it was 4 wide all the way around the track,no room for the pace car even. I was in 3rd place on a red after a couple hundred laps on a red and an official came up to me and ripped my helmet off and ran away with it and had me black flagged.....when I got out to dispute it they surrounded me and had one big sucker attack me.....I got bruised up and he went to the hospital from USMC eye gouge with both thumbs with my fingers behind his ears gripping and my thumbs in his eye balls as far as I could get them...lol. Was a fun night for sure. SO I sued them and they bought my first WIndpusher car.....That was more racing for less dollars and more fun than a 20 lapper.....
We killed off any kind of fun racing now since we have so much money wrapped up in equipment. Junk car, junk tires,no 5 way harness,no hans and regular gas.......and $2500 to win. Now its $2500 to enter and $600 to win.

Hopefully there will not be suing after this event with no fuel cells and no roll cages allowed...
