The 2nd Annual Hot Shoe 100 is this Saturday, August 8th. The Gray family has been hard at work to make the second one bigger and better for their organization-Northern Michigan Cancer Crusaders, the racers, and the fans. With 40 pending pre-registered modifieds, this will make Modified History at Whittemore Speedway by being our largest car count EVER and the Biggest Modified race in Michigan so far in 2015. This race is bigger than most of us see, but if you could see when the Cancer Crusaders get to provide NECCESITIES for those families battling cancer... That is the VICTORY OF THIS ENTIRE EVENT. Bud and his family have worked extremely hard for this cause as it has hit close to home with them, we all know someone that has fought this nasty disease. If you have reservations that you may not make the race, DON'T... Everyone WILL race a feature event(B main payout has been advertised) and tires are not an issue as NO new tires are required, along with a choice of either the Hoosier or American Racer 970. They have collected many items for prizes for the drivers also. Here is the list of pending racers for the 2nd Annual Hot Shoe 100.

Practice starts tomorrow.

Will be curious how many show up for the astounding purse (10K to win, 1K to start). We always say we want good paying races - this one exceeds it. Not to mention it is great for the community and raises a bunch of money for charity.

Any guesses on car count?

(I'll keep my comments on the format quiet until after the race...)

Did anyone attend?

Clearly was a big event - would like to hear thoughts on the qualifying format before I opine about it.

Not sure what you want about Qualifying the qualified 60 Mods on Friday plus ABC stocks and FWD had 120 cars
Saturday ran Features and B and C mains pitts and grandstands were packed

There is nobody that promotes the way that they do for this race. And they make it an event, and I am glad that the fans and drivers support them (especially with how much goes to charity).

But did they say why the advertised format was scrapped, specifically regarding the LCQ's?

I have talked to Bud in the past. He is always open to listen, and I appreciate that.

I have mentioned to him, but I would like to see qualifying be a bigger deal, especially now that it requires teams to be there for the ENTIRE day Friday, not just after work.

Examples:

4 lap time trial aggregate, a la Indianapolis
2 sets of time trials, best lap from each
draw for position in heat races
heat races with top 4 in each inverted from time trials
time trials + split field into 3 qualifying races
etc.
